Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. She began her Broadway career in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator in projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers for most of her career. Ashford's next venture will be a limited-edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in March 2023 when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She starred in two seasons on the popular CBS comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford has been brought up in Denver and now lives living in Los Angeles and New York.
